How to register for the NCLEX in Connecticut

1. 1. Apply for licensure by examination with the Connecticut Board of Examiners for Nursing and meet its eligibility requirements.
2. 2. Register for the NCLEX with Pearson VUE and pay the exam fee.
3. 3. Once the board finds you eligible, you receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) and schedule at a Pearson VUE test center.

License renews annually, by the last day of the nurse’s birth month.

RN continuing education

Connecticut does not impose a general per-renewal contact-hour requirement. The one mandated continuing-education item is a two-contact-hour training on mental health — screening for conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, suicide risk, depression and grief, together with suicide-prevention training — required at the first renewal on or after January 1, 2022 and once every six years thereafter.

The mental-health training applies to RNs and LPNs alike; nurses attest to compliance at online renewal and keep records for at least three years. Confirm current requirements with the board.
