How to register for the NCLEX in Tennessee

3. 3. Once the board finds you eligible, you receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) and schedule at a Pearson VUE test center.

Tennessee does not set a single fixed continuing-education hour count. For each biennial renewal a nurse must be able to document at least two of the board’s approved continued-competence activities (options include continuing/in-service education, national certification, an employer or peer evaluation, academic study, publication, a refresher program, and volunteer or committee service). If continuing education is one of the chosen options, it is ten contact hours per renewal period.

Because competence can be shown through several non-CE options, there is no universal CE-hour mandate; confirm the current continued-competence menu with the board. Documentation must be retained for four years and is verified through CE Broker and periodic audits.
