NCLEX practice questions for Maine nurses & students

Nursing in Maine is regulated by the Maine State Board of Nursing, an independent state board that licenses RNs and LPNs and approves the state's nursing programs. Maine is a member of the Nurse Licensure Compact, so a resident's multistate license carries practice privileges across other compact states. Public license verification is handled through the State of Maine's ALMS online licensing system.

License renewal & continuing education in Maine

License renewal
Every two years, on the licensee’s birthday.
RN continuing education
Maine does not currently mandate a set number of continuing-education contact hours for RN (or LPN) renewal; nurses attest to continued competency when they renew online through the Maine Nurse Portal.

Renewal requires an attestation of continued competency even though a fixed CE hour count is not required for RNs/LPNs; advanced practice registered nurses have a separate continuing-education requirement. Confirm current rules with the board.

NursingCEA does not provide continuing-education credit, contact hours, or certificates — we offer free practice questions and study material only. Requirements are set by the Maine State Board of Nursing and change over time; always confirm the current rules with the board.
