How to register for the NCLEX in Oklahoma

License renewal

Every two years, expiring the last day of the licensee’s birth month.

RN continuing education

Oklahoma does not mandate continuing education alone. Within the two years before a license expires, a nurse must meet one of several “continued qualifications for practice” options: verified employment of at least 520 hours in a position requiring the license; at least 24 contact hours of continuing education applicable to nursing practice; current certification in a nursing specialty; completion of a Board-approved refresher course; or at least 6 academic semester credit hours of nursing coursework at the licensee’s level or higher.

The same continued-qualification options apply to RNs and LPNs; a nurse may satisfy them through employment hours, certification, a refresher course, or academic credit rather than continuing education. Confirm current options with the Board.
