NCLEX practice questions for Nevada nurses & students
Nevada nursing is overseen by the Nevada State Board of Nursing, an independent board that licenses RNs, LPNs, and advanced practice nurses. Nevada is not part of the Nurse Licensure Compact — repeated legislative attempts to join have stalled — so a nurse must obtain a Nevada license by examination or endorsement before practicing in the state. Fast population growth around Las Vegas and Reno keeps demand high, with programs at the two university campuses and newer entrants like Nevada State University and Roseman University expanding the pipeline.

Nevada is not a Nurse Licensure Compact state. Compact bills (including AB108 in 2023 and a 2025 effort) did not pass amid union opposition, so nurses must hold a Nevada-issued license to practice in the state.

How to register for the NCLEX in Nevada
- 1. Apply for licensure by examination with the Nevada State Board of Nursing and meet its eligibility requirements.
- 2. Register for the NCLEX with Pearson VUE and pay the exam fee.
- 3. Once the board finds you eligible, you receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) and schedule at a Pearson VUE test center.

License renewal & continuing education in Nevada

Newly licensed nurses are exempt from the 30-hour requirement for their first biennial period after graduation but must still complete the one-time bioterrorism course and the cultural-competency hours.
