NCLEX practice questions for Nebraska nurses & students

Nursing in Nebraska is regulated by the state through the Nebraska Board of Nursing, with licensure administered by the Department of Health and Human Services rather than a stand-alone agency. Because Nebraska participates in the Nurse Licensure Compact, resident nurses can apply for a multistate license that lets them practice in other compact states without a separate application. The state's programs range from the academic-medical-center pathway at UNMC in Omaha to faith-based and specialty colleges, feeding hospitals across both the metro corridor and rural Nebraska.

License renewal & continuing education in Nebraska

License renewal
every two years
RN continuing education
Nurses must meet a continued-competency requirement at renewal. One accepted option is completing at least 20 contact hours of approved continuing education within the prior two years, combined with at least 500 hours of nursing practice in the past five years. Other options include a board-approved refresher course, current national specialty certification, or a documented continuing-competency portfolio.

RN licenses expire October 31 of even-numbered years and LPN licenses October 31 of odd-numbered years; nurses licensed within the previous two years are exempt from the competency requirement.

NursingCEA does not provide continuing-education credit, contact hours, or certificates — we offer free practice questions and study material only. Requirements are set by the Nebraska Board of Nursing and change over time; always confirm the current rules with the board.
