How to register for the NCLEX in Iowa
- 1. Apply for licensure by examination with the Iowa Board of Nursing and meet its eligibility requirements.
- 2. Register for the NCLEX with Pearson VUE and pay the exam fee.
- 3. Once the board finds you eligible, you receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) and schedule at a Pearson VUE test center.

Yes. Iowa is a Nurse Licensure Compact member and was one of the original compact states; it has issued multistate licenses since the enhanced NLC took effect on January 19, 2018. Nurses whose primary residence is Iowa can apply for a multistate license.
The Iowa Board of Nursing regulates RN, LPN, and ARNP licensure, with licensing administered under the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing (DIAL).
Apply for licensure with the Iowa Board of Nursing, then register for the NCLEX-RN or NCLEX-PN with NCSBN and pay the fee. Once you are found eligible you will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) and can schedule at a Pearson VUE test center. NCLEX is administered by NCSBN and delivered through Pearson VUE; NursingCEA is not affiliated with either.
Use the DIAL 'Verify License Status' page for nursing, or the Iowa Board of Nursing online licensure portal, to look up a nurse by name or number. Multistate compact licenses can also be verified through Nursys.
